Set Up a Tax Profile

The Tax Profile Detail screen lets you set up taxes to fit the specific needs of your restaurants.

If you are not familiar with your tax laws, consult your tax professional, OTL, or BD before proceeding with this setup.

  1. Click Tax Profiles.

  2. In the Tax Profiles screen, click + Add New.

The Tax Profile Detail screen opens.

  3. Enter a name for your tax profile in the Name field.

This should be a name that makes sense to you and that clearly distinguishes this tax profile from any others you create.

  4. Select the appropriate rounding option for the Rounding Type from the following options:

    • Nearest - Round Half to Even

    • Nearest - Round Up

    • Round Down

    • Round Up

In the United States, the tax rounding type is Nearest - Round Half to Even.

  5. Review the following information, and then proceed to Define Tax Rates.

The Exceptions, VAT Categories, and Compounding buttons are in this section of the screen as well. Since these buttons often rely on the taxes and fees set up in the Tax/Fee section, these buttons are enabled after you have defined all your tax rates.

  • If there are any exceptions you need to set up for your tax profile, click Exceptions.

The Configure Tax Exceptions screen enables you to Define Exceptions.

  • If VAT applies to your location, click VAT Categories.

The VAT/Tax Inclusive Category Selection screen opens a list of tax categories that are tax-inclusive. See Set Up a Value Added Tax

There are no VAT areas in the United States.

  • If compound taxes need to be set up for your tax profile, click Compounding.

The Compound Tax Configuration screen opens. See Set Up a Compound Tax
